Wine for your Glasses

What wine would you like in your glass?  Are you familiar with all the different types of wines?  How many wines can you name? Unfortunately, there are too many wines to begin to name here and we will try to just touch on the basic wines.

Syrah (or Shiraz) - hearty, spicy reds

Merlot - easy to drink, full-bodied rich wines

Cabernet sauvignon - full-bodied, rich, usually

sweeter than merlot

Cabernet Franc - milder version of sauvignon

Pinot noir - difficult to grow, rich, complex, often fruity, delicate

Zinfandel - usually fruity and versatile, white zinfandel is actually a red wine

Sangiovese - Chianti, cherries, plums, nuts

WHITES

Riesling - sweet and dry fruity

Sauvignon blanc - sharp herbal and grassy
