What wine would you like in your glass? Are you familiar
with all the different types of wines? How many wines can you
name? Unfortunately, there are too many wines to begin to name here
and we will try to just touch on the basic wines.
REDS
Syrah (or Shiraz) - hearty,
spicy reds
Merlot -
easy to drink, full-bodied rich wines
Cabernet sauvignon -
full-bodied, rich, usually
sweeter than merlot
Cabernet Franc - milder
version of sauvignon
Pinot noir -
difficult to grow,
rich, complex, often fruity, delicate
Zinfandel - usually fruity and versatile, white zinfandel is
actually a red wine
Sangiovese - Chianti, cherries, plums, nuts
WHITES
Chardonnay - rich citrus,
sometimes buttery
Riesling - sweet and dry fruity
Sauvignon blanc - sharp herbal
and grassy
Gewürztraminer - pungent, spicy
